Colorado Springs
The Colorado Springs metropolitan area includes more than 500,000 people and is the 18th fastest growing city and the 80th largest city according to the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce. Colorado Springs, founded in 1871, is at the bottom of Pike's Peak and is at an altitude of 6035 feet. Key industries include tourism, manufacturing, high technology, sports and the military. Ft. Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, the North American Defense Command (NORAD) and the US Air Force Academy are all located here.

Penrose
Penrose was founded in 1908 by Spencer Penrose. By 1997 Penrose was home to approximately 6,000 residents and 120 businesses. With most of itís approximately 20 acres zoned rural agricultural, each home can require a minimum of 4.5 acres. However, land is available ranging in size from city lots to over 20 acres. Housing prices are in the moderate range.

Woodland Park
Woodland Park is located on the north slope of Pike's Peak and is at an altitude of 8465 feet. It is surrounded by a million acres of Pike National Forest. As of 2000, Woodland Park's total population was 6,515. It is the home of the Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center and the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

Pueblo Pueblo
Pueblo, founded in 1842, was originally called Fort Pueblo. It is the hometown of four Congressional Medal of Honor recipients and on July 1, 1993 was officially recognized by the Congressional Record as the "Home of Heroes". Pueblo is also the home of the Colorado Music Fest, the Pueblo Zoo, Lake Pueblo State Park, the Pueblo Motor Sports Park and the Pueblo Greyhound Park.

Palmer Lake
Palmer Lake was founded in 1871 and has a population of 2,000 people. It is the beginning of the 14 mile Sante Fe Regional Trail, which is one of the largest continuous trails in El Paso County. The Palmer Lake Christmas Star on Sundance Mountain has been a tradition since 1934. It is a five pointed star measuring 500 feet across and consisting of 91 light bulbs. It is lighted for the entire month of December and on special occasions.

Fountain
Fountain is located at the base of Pike's Peak and is part of the Rocky Mountain Range. It was founded in 1859 along the banks of the Fountain Creek. Fountain is a crossroads linking the Cherokee Trail to the Old Sante Fe Trail. Key industries are dairy farming, cattle raising, truck farming, and fruit and vegetable production. Fountain is located 10 miles south of Colorado Springs and 30 miles north of Pueblo.

Manitou Springs
Manitou Springs is located between the Garden of the God's and Pike's Peak. It is the home of Cave of the Winds, Miramont Castle, the Cliff Dwellings Museum and the Flying "W" Ranch. The actual springs were created during the geological uplift that created Pike's Peak and have made Manitou famous for their intense effervescence.

Black Forest
Black Forest borders the north end of Colorado Springs and is largely rural. It is a rapidly growing area with a population of aproximately 11,500. Area elevation varies from 6500 to 7800 feet. The area got it's name from a German immigrant who compared the color of the Ponderosa Pine to the Black Forest of Germany.

Cripple Creek
Cripple Creek is located 48 miles west of Colorado Springs. It is at an elevation of 9,591 feet. Gold Mining put this area on the map when gold was discovered in 1890. By the end of the gold rush, $432 million in gold would come from area mines. This made it the fourth largest gold producing camp in the world. Today the largest surface mine and heap leach gold mine in the state of Colorado continues to operate here.

Monument
Monument is located between Denver and Colorado Springs, 12 miles north of Colorado Springs and 35 miles south of Denver. It is situated atop the Palmer Divide at 7200 feet.

Calhan
Calhan features country living, with five or more acres per homesite; horses & domestic animals are welcome, and the area supports wells & septic tanks. The price ranges vary with acerage.
Calhan is the home to the El Paso county fair, with a population of 896, reaching an altitude of 6,507. This peaceful community, with continuous business and groweast of Colorado Springs off of US highway 24.

Ramah
Ramah has a population is approximately 117, with an altitude of 6,094 feet. The distance to the state capital is 59 miles, and 40 miles east of Colorado Springs off of US highway 24.

Fort Carson
Fort Carson has a population of 10,566, with an elevation of 5835 feet.les east of Colorado Springs on U.S. Highway 24. The median home price is set at $149,121. This rural area consists mainly of 5 acre properties, with a taste of country and city convenience.

Located in El Paso County, Truckton has an elevation of 6,023 feet, with a mild semi-arid climate.

Peterson AFB
Peterson AFB has a population of 1,452, the home of the Peterson Air Force Base, and the 21st Space Wing. The 21st Space Wing is the Air Force's only organization responsible for worldwide missile warning and space control.
Peterson AFB is adjacent to and east of Colorado Springs off U.S. Highway 24. Located in the Rocky Mountain region, summers can be hot with a nice dry climate all year round.

Green Mountain Falls
Green Mountain Falls has a population of 773 people,located between El Paso and Teller counties. It is located on Fountain Creek, 10 miles NW of Colorado Springs, surrounded by Pike National Forest.

Florissant
Florissant has a population of 12468, and is located within the Rocky Mountains at the intersection of State Highway 24 and County Road 1 about 40 miles west of Colorado Springs. It is Teller County's western-most community, home to the Fossil Bed National Monument. Dude ranches and petrified forests are near by, with an eleven mile canyon reservior.

Divide
Divide is at 9,260 feet on the northern slope of Pikes Peak. Popular attractions are nearby, including Pikes Peak, Mueller State Park, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

Guffey
Guffey is located on Currant Creek, in the Rocky Mts., 40 miles west of Colorado Springs. With an elevation of 8,680, it is by Pike National Forest, eleven mile canyon reservoir, and eleven mile state park.

Lake George
Lake George is located in Park County about 35 miles west of Colorado Springs, close to Eleven Mile State Park and Reservoir. Activities are abundant, offering fishing, boating, hiking, wildlife viewing, and camping.
